To the Jewish Community of Baltimore - Love, Rav Moshe Heinemann

http://www.brianarens.com/blog/pics/454px-Golda_Meir,_bw_photo_portrait,_head_and_shoulders,_facing_right,_March_1,_1973.jpg

The day that rabbi Moshe Heinemann cares more about the children in Baltimore then he does about his own image -- will be the day we have a chance of ending child sexual abuse in the Baltimore Jewish community! -- Jewish Survivor.

I was asked by a friend to verify if the following letter is authentic.

Did rabbi Heinemann really write this letter and post it in his shul (under glass) back on May 9th?

If the letter is authentic then it is another response to Phil Jacobs (Baltimore Jewish Times) series on Rabbi Ephraim Shapiro.
  1. Rabbi's Abuse Victims Suffer Years Later - April 13, 2007
  2. Rabbi Also Molested Girls - May 4, 2007
A friend joked with me and stated that if the letter is authentic, that Rabbi Heinemann must have written it as a publicity stunt.

I guess rav Heinemann isn't getting enough attention? So if you have the time give him a call. Let him know what you think of his letters!
Rabbi Moshe Heinemann:
Phone: 410-484-4110
Fax:
410-653-9294
Once again it appears that Rabbi Heinemann cares more about a dead alleged sexual predator then he does about the long term ramifications his criminal behavior had on hundreds of his survivors and their families.

Don't forget to help support the Jewish Times by purchasing at least one copy of their paper, also don't forget to make a donation to The Awareness Center. They can't function without your continued financial support!

FYI: I was told that the Hebrew in his letter translates to:
"The verse in Mishlei 26:11, which states, 'As a dog returns to its vomit, so does a fool return to his folly,' see Ibn Ezra there."

I guess Heinemann was talking about himself?

"The verse in Mishlei 26:11, which states, 'As a dog returns to its vomit, so does a fool return to his folly,' see Ibn Ezra there."

I agree that Heinemann's letter is totally inappropriate.

Clearly this dude doesn't know about how to handle sex crimes. The message he is sending is that he'll hear nothing about sexual misconduct and will see it as "Toeva" (or, foul, disgusting, aversive things to discuss).

I'm calling him right away and sending him literature to read. I doubt he'll read any of it. His mind is closed!

Please warn all the family's that daven in his shul that they need to do what ever it takes to protect their children.

Heinemann says to refer to the commentary of Ibn Ezra who states: The dog returns to it's own vomit in order to eat it. So too the foolish man has no shame when he returns to his folly.

Perhaps Heinemann should consider that the behavior of rabbis like him is more than enough to induce vomit.

The introductory phrase reads, "For twice has he done evil."

His reasoning for the ban is that the offender is dead and can't defend himself. However, when you look at the massive pile of evidence and the tens of survivors who have come forward - what defense would this guy have even is he was alive? All offenders say the same things: it was his/her fault, he/she is lying, this would destroy my family if it came out, etc.

It is so important to publish this article for the sake of the survivors. It's too bad that Heinemann doesn't understand this. It's too bad that his lack of understanding of survivors has caused pain and suffering to many of them. It is not too late to make amends, Moshe Heienmann! The question is, will your ego allow you to do so? I hope you find the courage to change your ways.

What do you think it will take to open up Heinemann's mind?

You can bring a horse to water -- but you can't make them drink.

Rabbi Heinemann, you want us all to be thirsty for your version of Torah, yet you are all dried up when it comes to speaking truth.

My question to Heinemann is "Why are you more concerned about a defensless dead man then you are about the defensless children that he molested who are still alive and suffering because of what he did??" Many of these children left Torah because of this dead mans evil behavior. What could be his defense? I didn't do it? How many victims does it take to make people believe that someone is a sex offender? Hienemann you are destroying and currupting Torah!

Rabbi Heinemann has been po'd at the Baltimore Jewish Times for years because they exposed his screw up in the matter of the BOAT SCANDAL.Speak to people who have lived in Baltimore for at least 16 or 17 years they'll tell you the story.
This guy should have been thrown out of the kashruth racket years ago.

What's the boat scandal? Do tell!

Isn't it crazy how rabbis have so much power they can ban a newspaper they are po'ed at for personal reasons and people actually listen? More, they think of him as such a tzadik because he quotes important-sounding scary verses from the torah? What a racket.
